Guy Moot

Managing director, EMI Music Publishing UK

Guy Moot became managing director of EMI Music Publishing UK in June 2005 after taking over from the legendary Peter Reichardt.

Moot joined the music industry in 1984 as a talent scout for ATV Music before spending an eighteen month stint at Chrysalis Records where, as A&R Manger, he signings included Ian Broudie who recorded as The Lightning Seeds and whose production credits include Echo & The Bunnymen, The Zutons and The Coral.

In 1987 he joined SBK Music Publishing. Two years later the company merged with EMI. Over the next 15 years or so Moot rose up the ranks of EMI Music Publishing, being appointed executive vice president A&R for UK and Europe in 2003.

During his time at the EMI Music Publishing Moot has signed a very wide range of artists including White Stripes, Sean Paul, Jamie Cullum, Ms Dynamite, Amy Winehouse, Prodigy, Jamiroquai, Kasabian and Eminem (who won International Male Solo Artist at last year's BRITS) as well as the Scissor Sisters who won three awards at the BRITS 2005 and whose debut album was the biggest selling album in the UK in 2004. In 2005 EMI Music Publishing UK won Music Week’s Publisher of the Year Award for a record 10th consecutive year.
